Helicopter fighting Yosemite National Park fire crashes, killing 2: Officials

Two helicopter pilots died Sunday afternoon after their aircraft crashed in Mariposa County while battling the Dome fire in Yosemite National Park. According to the Federal Aviation Administration and U.S Forest Service, the crew was conducting water drops over the wildfire, which had burned over 3,000 acres since igniting last Tuesday near Wawona Dome. The incident involved over 500 crisis responders. This tragedy contributes to at least 14 deaths during U.S. wildfire operations this year.
