Saudi Arabia: New Executions of Ethiopian Migrants

Saudi Arabia is utilizing a more expensive and lengthier backdoor via a Mediterranean port to export its oil. Simultaneously, Human Rights Watch reports that Saudi authorities executed five Ethiopian migrants on July 27, 2026, for nonlethal drug offenses without due process. Since the start of 2026, at least 17 Ethiopian nationals have been executed on drug charges, with 79 more at risk. Total executions in 2026 reached at least 116 people as of July 27.
