San Sebastián Film Festival Director José Luis Rebordinos On This Year’s Line-Up, The Changing Cinema Landscape & Why Festivals “Have To Speak About Human Rights”

The 74th San Sebastian International Film Festival begins September 18 on Spain's Basque Coast, featuring 263 projects from 47 countries. Director José Luis Rebordinos emphasizes that festivals must address human rights amidst a changing cinema landscape. This edition marks Rebordinos' 17th and final year leading the event. He expressed surprise at the festival's significant growth over his tenure. Deputy director Maialen Beloki is scheduled to officially take over the leadership role in January 2027.
