NightmareEclipse's latest zero-day leaves Microsoft Defender stuck in the past

Former Microsoft security researcher Abdelhamid Naceri published a zero-day proof-of-concept tool named BigDiskBuster on GitHub on September 19. This exploit prevents Microsoft Defender from installing critical platform and signature updates by filling all available disk space. While the antivirus remains running, it is unable to update its defenses. Currently, there is no official patch, no assigned CVE, and no advisory from Microsoft regarding this vulnerability, leaving systems susceptible to outdated security signatures.
