Meet the Adorable and Tiny Tilcayo, the First Brand-New Cat Species Identified in More Than a Century

Scientists have identified the Tilcayo, the first brand-new wild cat species described in over a century. Discovered in a Brazilian cloud forest, Leopardus tilcayo is smaller than a typical house cat and features large, irregularly shaped rosettes on its coat. This diminutive feline is now drawing curious visitors in Bolivia. The discovery marks a significant milestone in zoology, as it is the first living wild cat species to be officially recognized in more than one hundred years.
