Huawei unveils what it calls the industry’s first NPO-based Ascend 960 supernode

At HUAWEI CONNECT 2026 in Shanghai, Huawei unveiled the Ascend 960 SuperPoD, featuring NPO technology to support next-generation AI infrastructure. The company announced that over 1,000 Ascend 910C supernodes are deployed, while Ascend 950 supernodes have entered commercial use. Development of the Ascend 960 chip is ahead of schedule, with the 960DT version planned for the first quarter of 2027 and the 960PR to follow, addressing the increasing computing power needs of large AI models.
