California man rescued after surviving 30 days adrift at sea

Kai Sato, a 39-year-old California man, was rescued by a passing ship after spending over a month adrift in the Pacific Ocean. His ordeal began during a failed solo sailing attempt from the Catalina Islands to Hawaii when his mast snapped. To survive the thirty-day odyssey, Sato consumed oatmeal along with fish and squid that landed on his boat. He remained at sea until his eventual rescue by the passing vessel.
