Banks and Credit Unions to Team Up Against Apple Pay Fees

U.S. District Judge Jeffrey White certified a class-action lawsuit against Apple, allowing banks and credit unions to collectively sue over Apple Pay fees. The suit, filed in 2022, alleges Apple maintains a monopoly over the mobile wallet market by blocking tap-to-pay competition and preventing rivals from accessing the iPhone. Plaintiffs claim Apple illegally collects up to 1 billion annually. Additionally, the judge denied Apple's motion to exclude expert testimony regarding the company's alleged monopoly power.
