AI tools help hacker break in for $25 per target

Research by Israeli security company Gambit reveals that hackers are using open-source AI harnesses to attack online retailers cheaply. An attacker targeted 105 retailers over five days, compromising 27 for an average of $25 per target. The campaign utilized Strix for vulnerability search, Cairn for autonomous exploitation, and Hermes for orchestration. These lucrative attacks resulted in the theft of 600,000 active credit card details from two businesses and the installation of various card skimmer scripts.
