96 tons of trash picked up statewide for California Coastal Cleanup Day

Over 50,000 volunteers participated in the 42nd annual California Coastal Cleanup Day across more than 750 sites. The initiative aimed to remove hundreds of thousands of pounds of trash before the rainy season. Early reports from 40% of sites indicated 24,835 volunteers collected 185,003 pounds of waste. In total, 96 tons of trash were picked up statewide. These efforts included massive participation in LA beaches and Berkeley, where families joined the environmental cleanup.
